Job Description:
NOVE is seeking FOUR highly qualified Veterinarian experts each placed in Laghman, Nangrahar and Kunar to provide technical assistance in maintaining and monitoring the health of cows and goats distributed among poor families in various districts of each province.

Job Requirements:
- Graduate from Veterinary Faculty or Post Graduate in the field of Veterinary. Expertise in Epidemiology or Public Health such as MPH, DPH, MAE, PhD, etc., or Microbiology are given priority.
- Veterinary Graduate with at least 3 to 5 years’ experience in related fields.
- Should have a thorough knowledge of Afghanistan livestock sector
- Knowledge of community is necessary
- To have good communication skills to build relationship with the DAIL and other stakeholders.
Languages
Fluent in Pushto, Dari and English
Work Responsibility
- Provide technical assistance to examine cows and goats for their health and safety.
- Administer vaccines, medication as needed and recommend and accommodate the quarantine for the animals.
- Observe and supervise the Quarantine of the animal as needed
- Lab analysis of the specimen to prevent and treat the animal as pertained to the program and its duration.
- Regular monitoring of the animals and providing health manpower among the beneficiary families in various districts.
- Respond swiftly to the calls of the animal owners in case of emergency or illness, and pay a visit to the location for the check up and treatment of the animal.
- Provide NOVE offices/Project Manager regular reports and data pertaining the conditions of the animals and the issues that beneficiaries or animal owners confront.
- The hired veterinarian must have sufficient medical equipment, access to medication and be mobile to travel to various districts to attend to the veterinarian needs of the animal and animal owners.
- Take active part in the fieldwork including but not limited to assisting with cow and goat distributions
- Provide awareness to BNFs on personal and environmental hygiene, water sanitation, milk processing, health care issues, and how some diseases can spread from animals to humans
- Participate in technical meetings conducted by the project/ DAIL, district authorities, and CDC and provide reports to the project manager.
- Performs any other task as assigned by the project manager
